However, these platforms come with hidden risks that can leave users vulnerable. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has been warning consumers about the dangers of storing money in peer to peer payment apps.

Unlike traditional bank accounts, which are insured by federal deposit insurance and protected up to $250,000 per depositor, P2P payments don't offer the same level of security.
